Firewatch 2010
Firewatch is a community based effort to get the jump on any wild fires that break out in the Black Mountain/Penasquitos Canyon area. Each year, from Labor Day through Thanksgiving, volunteers are posted in strategic areas on Red Flag Days to keep an eye out for smoke and fire. If either of these are seen, the volunteer calls it in to 911.
This early warning system is a very effective way to give the Fire Department the upper hand on fires in the Rancho Penasquitos area. We need volunteers to make this work. If you’d like more information or wish to get involved in FireWatch 2010, please complete the form below. Thank you!
