Join the Council

Did you know that every May, Rancho Penasquitos holds an election?  That’s right.  Elections for two-year terms on the PQ Town Council are held every year at the Fiesta on the first Sunday in May.

Would you like to get more involved in your community?  Run for an elected position on the Council!  Applications are due at least two weeks before the Fiesta.  Please see the current year application at the bottom of this page for the exact date.

Missed the election application deadline?  Not to worry!  Vacancies on the Council are filled year round by appointment.  Just fill out the application any time and we’ll get back to you.

Additional Information:

The Town Council is made up of elected and appointed volunteers from eight districts laid out to coincide with the elementary school boundaries in PQ:

District 1- Adobe Bluffs
District 2- Canyon View
District 3- Deer Canyon
District 4- Los Peñasquitos
District 5- Park Village
District 6- Rolling Hills
District 7- Sundance
District 8- Sunset Hills

NOTE: If you do not know what elementary school district you are in, you can use a tool on the Poway Unified School District’s Web site to find out.

There can be up to two elected representatives from each district.  Additional appointed positions also exist.

The Council also has two high school student member positions:  one to be filled by a student from Mt. Carmel and one from Westview.  If you are a Junior interested in serving on the PQ Town Council during your Senior year, please submit the application below.  *Please note* that the Student Representative Application is different from the Candidate Application.

Now you’re thinking about it, but you’re not sure.  Remember that the Town Council is only possible because of the time and effort of those who volunteer.  If you have some time and effort to give, this may be your opportunity.  Read through the other information on this site— check out who we are, what we do, and what we’re working on.
