Filing An Aircraft Noise Complaint

For Aircraft from USMC Air Station,Miramar

Want to complain about that noisy aircraft you suspect is from Miramar but don't know who to call?  Well, first, stop and determine whether your noise complaint is valid (it is a military aircraft and not a civilian plane or helo).  Then go to the MCAS Miramar website, http://www.miramar.usmc.mil/home.htm  to file a complaint and get the straight skinny on who, what and why.

On the website, look over on the left-hand side panel, under "Information", and click on "Noise Complaints" (http://www.miramar.usmc.mil/WebPages/NoiseComplaints/NoiseComplaints.htm)
You now have two choices:

  1. Call the hotline by phone (858-577-4277 or 4279) or
  2. Use the "Noise Complaint Online Form"

Either way works, but the online form provides a very good format for entering details that helps the Airfield Operations Office do a proper investigation and to report the results back to you.  The Airfield Operations Duty Officer's answering the phone, or responding to you by email, is there to help you.  Please provide them with the proper information so your complaint can be investigated. All complaints are investigated.

Want an idea of the arrival and departure patterns used by MCAS Miramar?  In that same side panel on the website, select "AICUZ" (Air Installation Compatibility Usage Zones) (http://www.miramar.usmc.mil/WebPages/CommunityPlansLiasion/AICUZ.htm).
The full AICUZ document is available in PDF format, chapter by chapter.  Select "Chapter 2 - Background Information" and scroll down to pages 2-8 (helicopters) and 2-9 (fixed wing aircraft) for full-color maps
(http://www.miramar.usmc.mil/WebPages/CommunityPlansLiasion/AICUZ.htm).

These maps show where the many flight patterns over Rancho Penasquitos are located.
